It is now Sunday morning here, and I finally have a few hours on the internet - whew!
How spoiled I am at home.
Let me say that so far I have been right in the thick of life in a Turkish town and village. I am so very insulated from all the tourist things that it is wonderful. I will have time to see them this trip or another time, but how very lucky I am that Nihat and Sadiye have opened their hearts and home to me.
Let me collect my thoughts of the first few days here.
We arrived in the dark on Wednesday night and went straight to Nihat's village and then "home". On Thursday, we went out for lunch. Thursday evening several guests came over. On Friday, we went to the market which is held twice a week, Friday and Tuesday. The Friday market is mainly food. The Tuesday market, which I am looking forward to, has lots of everything.
On Friday night I had a great surprise. Nihat's cousin, Sami and his wife Semin, drove in from Torbali to visit us. I met them eight years ago when they visited KW. They brought a beautiful cake with candles to celebrate my "Turkish birthday" - my first time in Turkey.
